Catholic Youth Parramatta

pilgrims PRAYER

A prayer for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta's pilgrims travelling to World Youth Day 2011 Madrid.

Ever loving God, we give you thanks for the many blessing we receive in this life. Thank you for the gift of World Youth Day to our young people. We ask your blessing on all our Pilgrims at World Youth Day in Madrid. Bless them on their pilgrimage and help them to build on the many graces and experiences that were the fruit of the World Youth Day in Sydney.

Guide them along right paths by bestowing on them the power of the Holy Spirit, so that they may continue to be your witnesses in the world.

May this pilgrimage renew their faith and confidence in you, and strengthen the bond of communion as they journey together, so that the fruits of their experience might bring renewal to the Church of Parramatta.

We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of the Southern Cross and in the name of our Lord Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever.

Reflection on Lourdes

After 30 hours flying and three days in Barcelona, we had a day to reflect while on the bus to Lourdes. Seven hours traveling over the Pyrenees we adjusted our 'si' for 'oui' and started at 8 sharp.

The trip was passed by the continuation of Quizmaster Toby's trivia of sites we visited.

Sagarda Familia was today's topic about all aspects of the impressive basilica. The prize, tim tams, were shared by winners and losers in true spirit of love.

Personal reflection on the bus for us centered around the homily of Fr Fernando yesterday about ensuring that every place we visited place an emphasis on how it improves and enables love of god and helps people.

The beauty of Sagarda Familia and Montserrat compared to the simplicity and roughness of St Ignatius' cave in have these visits improved our connection with God.

Lourdes procession

Lourdes procession.

After dinner, we joined the procession around the grotto and rosary square where St Bernadette had her visions.

Upward of 20,000 pilgrims sang 'Ave Maria' and the rosary was broadcast in many languages.

We fulfilled the Immaculate Conception's request to process in one of the visions.
