Catholic Youth Parramatta

pilgrims PRAYER

A prayer for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta's pilgrims travelling to World Youth Day 2011 Madrid.

Ever loving God, we give you thanks for the many blessing we receive in this life. Thank you for the gift of World Youth Day to our young people. We ask your blessing on all our Pilgrims at World Youth Day in Madrid. Bless them on their pilgrimage and help them to build on the many graces and experiences that were the fruit of the World Youth Day in Sydney.

Guide them along right paths by bestowing on them the power of the Holy Spirit, so that they may continue to be your witnesses in the world.

May this pilgrimage renew their faith and confidence in you, and strengthen the bond of communion as they journey together, so that the fruits of their experience might bring renewal to the Church of Parramatta.

We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of the Southern Cross and in the name of our Lord Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever.

Praising God in Paris

From Malia (group leader), Catholic Education, Parramatta Diocese

Praise God for an awesome day, although one that has not quite ended. Having just arrived in Paris, we await with fatigue for one more flight till we arrive in our destination, more importantly our beds.

From what started as an exciting and nervous afternoon for the young members from the Pilgrim Way package group; the anticipation of whether our luggage will go over the weight limit or not to the effects of jet-lagging for (some of us) the longest plane trip of our lives.

Everyone's facial expressions have also dramatically changed from one of excitement, to one now portraying an urge to hit the sack. 9-10 hours from Sydney to Bangkok, and just recently 12 hour from Bangkok to Paris, one can only imagine how high we are right now with the Holy Spirit. LOL

Upon arriving in Paris, we had a short Mass just after receiving our luggage, on one corner of the airport. What a great opportunity it was to stop, and give thanks for the many experiences we've had thus far.

Now myself, Luke, Gwen, Maria, Molly, Christina, Lesina, Tim, Derrick and Dwayne are chilling out at the airport, as we had volunteered to stay behind and look after everyone's bags, while the rest have gone out to the city of Paris, to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

The group that made it to Paris spent 2 hours visiting Notre Dame cathedral - an awe inspiring place.

We then had a quick walk to try and spot the eiffel tower - can you see it in the photo??
