Penrith enthralled by World Youth Day pilgrim’s journey

WYD Rio Information Night at Penrith.

St Nicholas of Myra Penrith Parish was the venue for the second of five World Youth Day Rio (WYD) Information Nights taking place across the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta.

The Penrith gathering on Wednesday 31 October 2012 was hosted by Fr Robert Riedling, who will be one of our diocesan Chaplains attending WYD Rio in 2013.

The Diocese of Parramatta is taking three pilgrimages to Rio de Janeiro via Lima in Peru, Iguazu and Mexico.

The many prospective pilgrims who attended the information session were given the opportunity to hear about what the WYD pilgrimage will mean for them.

The group heard from Jay Pamintuan, a WYD Madrid 2011 pilgrim. The group was enthralled by the story of the discernment of his vocation as he travelled on pilgrimage. He shared with the group his deep relationship with Christ and how that was strengthened by his WYD experience.

Our WYD Executive Officer, Ian Jordan, outlined the itineraries and details of the pilgrimage packages. He answered the key question, how to become a World Youth Day pilgrim?
