Natural Fertility Services is a new service in the Marriage Support and Special Services division of CatholicCare Social Services Diocese of Parramatta.
Natural Fertility Services was established in January 2015 and is coordinated by Catherine Bourne. Catherine has been an educator of the Sympto Thermal Method of Natural Family Planning (NFP) for the past five years and has come to CatholicCare from Primary School Education, having taught in the Diocese since 1985.
Some of you may have been educated in the Sympto Thermal Method of NFP in the Diocese prior to this year. That service was provided by Natural Fertility Services, Sydney.
We thank them for the wonderful support provided to clients over many decades and wish them every blessing as they continue ministering to couples in the Archdiocese of Sydney.
The Diocese was keen for CatholicCare Parramatta to provide natural fertility services and also to offer all three methods of NFP approved by the Catholic Church.
We are now able to offer clinical appointments to couples in these three methods:
The Billings Ovulation Method®
The Sympto Thermal Method
CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™ System
The Creighton Model is also the basis for the women's health science, NaProTECHNOLOGY (natural procreative technology).
NaProTECHNOLOGY is a medical program devoted to restoring the procreative health of couples and enabling increased chances of achieving pregnancies in accordance with the Church’s teachings around marriage and fertility.
NFP promotes fertility awareness information to women, teaching them to record their naturally occurring fertile symptoms during their cycle. Educators are able to see possible irregularities before pregnancy is even a plan and direct them towards medical help.
Sub fertility, both male and female, can be investigated and possibly restored well before trying to achieve a pregnancy.
NFP is suitable for couples preparing for marriage; we present the Fertility Awareness and Family Planning Decisions session at the Pre-marriage Courses for engaged couples run at various locations in the Diocese throughout the year.
Married couples are able to use NFP throughout their entire reproductive lives in different situations: when trying to achieve a pregnancy, spacing children, while breastfeeding and when peri-menopausal.
These methods provide married couples with effective fertility education so they are empowered to plan their families responsibly in accordance with their natural design and Church teachings.
