Around 900 young people from Parishes across the Diocese gathered at St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta on 17 April for the Palm Sunday Youth Mass with the Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP.
The celebrations included the Procession of Palms and Youth Mass, followed by a barbecue dinner get-together with Bishop Anthony.
After Bishop Anthony blessed the palms in Prince Alfred Park, the procession made its way to the Cathedral with International flags flying and the faithful singing 'Hosanna to the Son of David'.
Bishop Anthony presided at the Mass, which was concelebrated by Fr Warren Edwards, Fr Pat Mullins SJ, Fr John Watkins and Fr Suresh Kumar. Fr Andrew Bass was MC for the Mass and Deacon James Phelan assisted.
The readings, offertory, and prayers of the faithful were conducted by the young people. The prayers of the faithful were delivered in different languages, which spoke of the universality of the Church.
Music for the Mass featured the Holy Family Parish Emerton choir. The choir continued to be in fine voice at the barbecue get-together in the Cathedral Hall following the Mass.
