Blog acceptable use policy

All blogs and feedback mechanisms on this website provide a means of dialogue with the school, communication, self-expression and freedom of speech. We believe in the sharing of opinions, encouraging healthy debate and welcoming new connections between people in all communities.

In order to uphold these values, we need to prevent abuses that threaten our ability to provide this service and the freedom of expression it encourages.

Therefore, there are some boundaries that we have defined are those that both comply with legal requirements and that serve to enhance communication as a whole, as follows:

  • Posting of pornographic material of any kind or the use of obscene language is strictly prohibited.
  • Users are not to publish material that promotes hatred or violence towards individuals or groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, ability, gender or age.
  • Users may not publish direct threats of violence against any person or group of people.

It is our policy to respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement.

Private and Confidential Information

The unauthorised publishing of an individual’s private and/or confidential information is prohibited.

We do not allow impersonation of others through our services in a manner that is intended to mislead.

Unlawful Use of Services

Our blog and feedback facilities are not to be used for unlawful purposes or for promotion of dangerous and illegal activities. Users in breach of this provision will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Netiquette refers to the guidelines and etiquette for online communication:

  • ensure that email and online messages are written carefully and politely
  • keep messages short and precise
  • use appropriate language - anything you post online is public
  • be careful in using humour and satire as they can easily be misinterpreted
  • respect the rights, beliefs and viewpoints of others
  • follow the same standards of behaviour online as you are expected to follow offline
  • ensure Caps Lock is off when typing text, as typing in all capitals is equivalent to online shouting
