Seminary Formation Programs
The Formation Program
The Formation Program is a combination of in-house studies together with the degree obtained from Catholic Institute Sydney. First Year seminarians normally undertake a one year intensive in personal and human development conducted at the seminary. After this there are the courses to study, at Catholic Institute Sydney, which are required to prepare them for ordination.
Pastoral Formation is generally undertaken in various places and situations in this diocese. The seminary provides a balance of experiences between assisting in one of the parishes and other specialized ministries. This provides the future priest with a wealth of opportunities to acquire experiences and learn skills which will help him be of service to the people he will later serve.
Spiritual Formation is helped by the daily timetable of the seminary which includes the celebration of the Eucharist, praying the Divine Office and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The seminarian is also expected to undertake regular spiritual reading, private devotions and spiritual direction.
