It is with joy that the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta presents a very special event - The ‘I’ in Evangelisation with inspiring guest speaker Sherry Weddell from the US - in Parramatta on Saturday 22 November. In the Church’s prayers to raise consciousness among our communities of their critical role in evangelisation, you are invited!

To share her wise insights on Christian charism and effective strategies on evangelisation in parishes, the inspiring Sherry Weddell from the US is our special featured speaker.

With alarming research and statistics from the Catholic Church in the US, Sherry Weddell’s powerful book Forming Intentional Disciples: The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus, addresses crucial challenges and opportunities for our Church.

What will be discussed?

  • The very concept of evangelisation;
  • The changed context for evangelisation that community leaders experience; and
  • Key awareness on how Catholics can exercise a leadership of evangelisation in their ministries, including supportive affirmation of current strategies towards evangelisation

This is an opportunity for input and self-reflection regarding the pivotal role of lay leaders in growing faith and sharing faith, the two goals of our Diocesan Pastoral Plan, Faith in Our Future.

All of the clergy of our Diocese will be having a session on Thursday 20 November also led by Sherry Weddell. We anticipate that our clergy, religious, and lay leaders leave The ‘I’ in Evangelisation event empowered with the same principles for evangelisation and action in our communities.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
