Western Sydney “heartland for the Church in Australia”
By Cathy Morris, Parramatta Advertiser
He’s about to step into one of the most powerful positions in the Australian Catholic Church, but Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, will take a little bit of Western Sydney with him.
The Archbishop-elect of Sydney described the west as the “heartland for the Church in Australia” at a farewell event with community leaders in Parramatta on Thursday 30 October.
”It’s the place where it’s happening, there’s so much life, there’s young families, there is every ethnic group on earth, there’s young adults engaged in the life of the Church,” he said.
“It means there’s so many possibilities, there’s so much the Church can do for the community and so many ways we can engage.”Read Cathy Morris’ full story at The Daily Telegraph online
