Vinnies Christmas Appeal 2010 News Story
The St Vincent de Paul Society is urging the community to donate to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal, to make tomorrow a better day for the thousands of people who seek their help on a daily basis.

Launched on Monday 8 November, the Vinnies Christmas Appeal will help those whose who live with distress, disadvantage and hardship each day of the year.

St Vincent de Paul Society Community & Corporate Relations Manager Julie McDonald said Vinnies receives thousands of calls for help every day - and the added pressure at Christmas sees this increase significantly.

“Vinnies is out there on the ground offering a renewed sense of hope that tomorrow can be a better day,” Julie said. “We provide financial assistance, bedding, food, clothing, home visitation and support to the homeless, elderly, people with a mental illness or disability, refugee families and women and children escaping domestic violence.

“Vinnies, however, cannot do this alone - especially in light of recent research which indicates Australia continue to live in distressing cases of disadvantage. And with Christmas on our doorstep, Vinnies anticipates many more people turning to Vinnies this year.”

Vinnies is asking for your support this Christmas to help make tomorrow a better day. Through your donation, you can help break the cycle of poverty and isolation, giving people the breathing space they need to get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.
