St Aidan’s Primary opens refurbished BER funded facilities

13/05/2011

Catholic Diocese of Parramatta Vicar General Right Rev Monsignor Robert McGuckin VGR EV has blessed the newly refurbished library and classrooms at St Aidan’s Primary in Rooty Hill.

St Aidan’s Primary received funding of $2 million under the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution program to create a library resource centre which is a modern, engaging space and the ‘learning hub’ of the school.

St Aidan’s was also able to construct and refurbish classrooms, making them more flexible and providing an open plan discussion area, independent work pods, recording/animation studios, a technology centre and access to outdoor learning spaces equipped with weather-proof furniture.

Mgr McGuckin blessed the facilities at an Opening & Blessing ceremony held at the school on Thursday 5 May. The facilities were officially opened by Executive Director of Schools Greg Whitby and Federal Member for Chifley Ed Husic MP.

Other special guests at the ceremony included St Aidan’s Parish Priest Fr Renato Paras, Stacey Dellow from Catholic Education’s Jarara Aboriginal education unit, Bill Walsh from the Catholic Education Commission and representatives from Thomas Adsett Architects and Meridian Construction.
