The Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, has announced the reappointment of Greg Whitby as Executive Director of Schools for a further five years.

The reappointment follows two successful system reviews conducted by Canadian Directors of Education, Susan La Rosa and Dr William Hogarth (retired) in 2010 and Professor Patrick Duignan in 2011.

The reviews noted a number of achievements including the successful restructuring of the Catholic Education Office Parramatta in 2006 and since, the implementation of a K-12 learning agenda and efforts to improve relationships between parishes, schools and system.

Bishop Anthony said he was pleased with the outcomes of the reviews.

"Our diocesan system of schools is responding to the challenges of contemporary schooling and opportunities for the new evangelisation as outlined in the 2007 Bishops of NSW and ACT Pastoral Letter, Catholic Schools at a Crossroads," Bishop Anthony said.

"I express my gratitude to Greg Whitby, the Catholic Education Office, school leaders and staff, parents, priests and parishioners for their ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality Catholic schooling."

Greg Whitby has been the Executive Director of Schools in the Diocese of Parramatta since March 2006 and leads a system of 78 schools, 42,000 students and 4,000 teachers and staff.

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is committed to enhancing formation, improving the learning outcomes of every child and providing professionally rewarding working lives for teachers and staff.
