After 25 years of marriage and six children, Tim and I decided that maybe we could be of service to the Diocese by training and becoming pre-marriage educators.
An article that appeared in Catholic Outlook some five years ago attracted our attention, and we decided to answer the appeal seeking couples to undertake this important ministry.
This year we will be presenting four courses of the 21 courses being offered by CatholicCare Parramatta. The newly revised pre-marriage education course is presented on a Friday evening and Sunday of the same weekend and covers the important topics such as Catholic marriage, communication and dealing with conflict.
The course material of PowerPoint and worksheets is provided, making presentation to the couples streamlined. We have found that the evidence-based research material together with anecdotes from our own marriage gives attending couples much information and opportunity to learn, reflect and put into practice skills and strategies to help them fulfil their marriage vows.
CatholicCare Social Services is once again seeking married couples who can commit between two and four weekends per year to join our educators team. Training and mentoring of new Educator couples takes place before going solo.
Tim and I thoroughly enjoy meeting and interacting with the young couples preparing for marriage. It is a privilege to be able to assist them to fulfil their dream of having a lifelong marriage.
So why not come and join us? For further information about training and remuneration please call Karin Abrams at CatholicCare Parramatta tel 02 9933 0222.
