Parramatta to Rio WYD Blog Lima News Story
Church of de Santa Rosa De Lima.
The Catholic Diocese of Parramatta's WYD2013 Executive Co-ordinator Ian Jordan is currently blogging his way through South America with Diocesan Business Manager Michael Digges, making sure all is in readiness for when the Diocese's pilgrims journey to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro next year (23 to 28 July 2013).

"Wednesday 14 March was always seen as a day of high expectations being our first day in Lima!" Ian blogs.

"Our first stop was the church of de Santa Rosa De Lima (Saint Rose of Lima) who was canonised in 1671.

"We met a dominican priest and visited the crypt beneath the church which contained the holy relics of St Rose of Lima.

"Afterwards we visited the home of San Martin de Porres, whose canonisation by Blessed Pope John XXIII in 1962, celebrates 50 years in 2012.

"The visit to the Convento Santo Domingo was very special, particularly the University of Theology Library establised in the 1500s, where thesis were challenged and validated."
