Parramatta Seminarians help spread the Good News

These young men represent the future of the Catholic Church in Sydney’s west.

Rather than spending their 20s partying, they have decided to offer their lives to God.

Adam Carlow, 25, and Matthew Dimian, 21, are seminarians at Holy Spirit Seminary in Harris Park where they will spend seven years working hard and studying to become priests.

The men are part of a small group of about 14 seminarians studying at the locally heritage-listed Kenilworth House, but that number is growing.

And work is due to begin on a new building at the Harris Park site in October to house up to 22 seminarians.

The Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, said the Church had to double its capacity for seminarians over in the past three years, with events such as World Youth Day and pastoral care programs having an impact.
