Brother Ruben of Jesus (Martello) FSF will be ordained to the priesthood at St Bernadette’s Dundas Valley Parish at 7pm on Friday 10 August, the Feast of St Laurence, martyr.

The ordaining celebrant will be Archbishop Douglas W Young SVD DD from the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea. Many Priests and Religious Orders will also be present at the Ordination Mass.

Father Ruben’s Thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday 11 August, the Feast of St Clare of Assisi. As well as celebrating his first Holy Mass, Fr Ruben will give his first Blessings as a Priest.

All are invited to attend the Ordination and Thanksgiving ceremonies at St Bernadette’s Church, 1-9 Cox Crescent Dundas Valley.

Fr Ruben’s will be the first Ordination for the new Community of Friars of St Francis at Dundas Valley. Founded by Father Christopher Sharah FSF, the community was given canonical status as a Private Association of Christ’s Faithful in the Catholic Parramatta Diocese by the second Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Kevin Manning DD, in 2005.

The Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, instituted Br Ruben as a candidate for the clerical state on 28 November 2010 and ordained him to the diaconate on 2 August 2011.
