New Evangelisation proclaimed in August 2012

Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council Promoting the New Evangelization at the Vatican, will deliver two keynote presentations during his visit to Australia for the PROCLAIM 2012 conference on the New Evangelisation.

To be held from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 August in Chatswood, Sydney, PROCLAIM 2012 is about helping Catholics to respond to the call from Pope Benedict XVI to engage in the New Evangelisation, to reach out with the message of Jesus to people and culture in new ways. It is being organised for the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference by the National Office for Evangelisation and Catholic Mission.

Archbishop Fisichella will speak on 'What is the New Evangelisation and what does it mean for the Church?' and 'Jesus and the Year of Faith Impelling the New Evangelisation'.

A second keynote presenter is Ms Martha Fernández-Sardina, Director of the Office for Evangelization for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Ms Fernández-Sardina will speak on 'Personal Conversion: An Indispensable Key in Personal and Parish Evangelisation'.

In announcing the themes of the keynote presentations for PROCLAIM, Bishop Peter Ingham, Bishops’ delegate for PROCLAIM 2012, said many Catholics are interested in hearing from Archbishop Fisichella how the universal Church is calling us to share the good news of Jesus Christ in new ways.
