Religious communities, parishes, priests and others who wish to unite in prayer in the period surrounding the Canonisation of Mary MacKillop are invited to make use of a specially prepared Prayer of the Church.

Prepared by the Liturgy Committee of the Canonisation Working Party, the document offers prayers, responses, psalms, hymns, readings, and intercessions which draw on the example and inspiration of Blessed Mary MacKillop.

The chair of the Liturgy Committee, Catholic Diocese of Parramatta Liturgy Office Director Fr Peter Williams, said the Prayer of the Church is always a powerful sign of communion.

“This Mary MacKillop Prayer of the church takes in morning and evening prayer and it is hoped that it will be used widely in the various communities around Australia as a way of uniting us all in prayer at this special moment in the history of the Church in Australia,” Fr Williams said.

The Mary MacKillop Prayer of the Church is available through the Canonisation office by phoning 02 89124844, or by emailing Jenny Foggiato on

It is anticipated that it will be available online soon at
