Easter and the story of Jesus’ resurrection is at the heart of the Catholic faith.

To commemorate the key events on the day of Christ’s crucifixion, the El Shaddai Filipino Youth Group will be performing a re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross at the 17th annual Easter service at Pinegrove Memorial Park, Minchinbury on Good Friday, 3 April at 10am.

“The re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross by the local Filipino youth group is a fantastic way of reminding us that Easter is not just about chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies,” said Ma Aileen Labiga, Pinegrove Memorial Park’s Filipino community spokesperson.

“It reminds us why Easter is such an important holiday in the Christian calendar.”

The El Shaddai Filipino Youth Group will perform the well-known story of when Jesus was condemned to death and all that He endured over the few days before his resurrection.

After the re-enactment, Father Roy Cabradilla, Assistant Parish Priest at St Aidan’s Rooty Hill Parish, will conduct a Good Friday liturgy.

“The service afterwards not only represents the joy of Jesus’ resurrection after His suffering but it is also a chance for the community to unite and celebrate an important holiday in the Christian calendar,” Ms Labiga said.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided for all those attending the performance and Good Friday service in the form of traditional Filipino snacks.
