The beatification of John Paul II will be webcast live from Rome by Xt3.com from 6pm Sydney time on Sunday 1 May.

The Catholic social networking site will begin its webcast at 4.30pm Sydney time with documentaries on the life of John Paul II, before crossing live to St Peter's Basilica at 6pm for the Beatification Mass where John Paul II will officially be declared ‘Blessed’. The Beatification Mass will be celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI.

In conjunction with Salt + Light TV, Xt3.com's interactive webcast will include live chat, twitter feeds and English commentary.

John Paul II served as Pope from 1978 until his death in 2005.

He visited more nations and gave audiences to more pilgrims than any previous Pope, and will forever be remembered for his courageous efforts to build bridges between nations and religions around the world.

As the founder of World Youth Day, he will always hold a special place in the hearts of young people.
