IFM Pastoral Care Volunteers Training

The Institute For Mission (IFM) will be conducting a Pastoral Care Volunteers Training day course on Saturday 30 October, to help caregivers develop their practical skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the philosophy of pastoral care.

The course will be presented by Catholic Healthcare Service Mission & Pastoral Services Manager Dominic Arcamone.

Key components to be covered in the day course encompass:

  • Skills in Pastoral Care

(Examining the place of pastoral listening from the point of view of the caregiver as listener)

  • The Philosophy of Pastoral Care

(Understanding the difference between pastoral care as problem solving and pastoral care as sharing our humanity)

  • The Core conditions of Pastoral Care

(Appreciating the importance of core conditions in which skills may be used in a productive way) 

  • Faith and Pastoral Care

(Examining Scripture and the work of Mission)

The course will be held at IFM (1-5 Marion St Blacktown) and bookings are essential.
