Hindus wish Pope the best for World Youth Day
Hindus have sent good wishes to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for the 26th World Youth Day (WYD) being held at Madrid Spain from 16 to 21 August.
In a statement made in Nevada, USA, President of Universal Society of Hinduism Rajan Zed wished the Pope success in infusing spirituality into today’s youth through WYD.
"Life is getting complex and distractions are increasing, so religion is slipping away from the priority list of many," Zed said.
"Conventional style of dealing with spirituality and religion do not appear to be effectively working, especially with today’s youth.
"If religious leaders and organisations do not attend to this challenge more effectively in this consumerist society, we can lose our youth to the other marketplace players, which sometimes can be more powerful, attractive and vocal than religion and spirituality."
About one million people are expected to attend the great worldwide encounter with the Pope in Madrid for WYD 2011.
