Hindus welcome Pope’s upcoming religious peace summit in Assisi
Hindus have welcomed "Pilgrims of truth, pilgrims of peace" World Day of Prayer for Peace initiative of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
In what will be a day of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world to be held in Assisi, Italy on 27 October, the Pope will be joined by leaders of other Christian denominations, various world religions and figures from the world of culture and science to “walk along the path of dialogue and fraternity”.
Hindu Universal Society of Hinduism President Rajan Zed, based in Nevada USA, has applauded the efforts of Pope Benedict XIV to bring world religious leaders on a single platform for the cause of peace.
Zed said that serious and honest interfaith dialogue was the need of the hour."It is wonderful that Pope is taking the lead in organising such a much-needed summit and bringing major world religions and denominations together for reflection, dialogue, prayer, fraternity and commitment to peace," he said.
