Fr Phil Medlin CSsR has been appointed to head up the new Mission and Pastoral Services unit within CatholicCare Social Services - Diocese of Parramatta (CCSS).

In announcing Fr Phil's appointment, CCSS Executive Director Otto Henfling said that Mission and Pastoral Services (MaPS) will be responsible for ensuring that the work of CCSS is guided by the Gospel and its message of love and charity.

MaPS will also facilitate chaplaincy services to CCSS staff, volunteers and client groups.

"CCSS is focussed on delivering its programs and services to the entire community with no regard for the creed or ethnicity of its service users," Mr Henfling said.

"Nonetheless, it is important that its staff and volunteers understand the connection between the work we do and the message of Gospel and the Church to ensure the service we provide is of the highest quality and connected to the rest of the work of the Church in the Diocese of Parramatta.

"This will be the focus of Fr Phil as he heads up the Mission and Pastoral Services unit. CCSS is very fortunate to have someone of Fr Phil’s calibre available to take on this important role."

Fr Phil - who recently celebrated his 50th year as a member of the Redemptorist Order - will leave the role of Senior Manager with CCSS's Aboriginal and Community Building to take up his new position with MaPS.

An announcement will be made soon regarding Fr Phil’s replacement as Senior Manager Aboriginal and Community Building.
