Time is almost up to join the thousands of Australian pilgrims going to World Youth Day Madrid (WYD) 2011, with registrations closing this Sunday 15 May.

Several thousand Australian pilgrims, hundreds of priests and 23 Australian Catholic Bishops have already registered to take part in the global faith phenomenon in Spain from 15 to 21 August.

WYD Madrid 2011 celebrates the universality of the Catholic Church today, with young people the world over coming together to share their faith and be rejuvenated to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their homelands.

Philip Ryall, Managing Director of the Official Tour operator Harvest Pilgrimages, said he hasn't been surprised by the level of enthusiasm of Australian pilgrims flooding into his office.

"The memories of WYD Sydney in 2008 are well and truly alive in the hearts of young people. For many, the journey will continue in Madrid where they will join two million others as the week builds to an epic Vigil sleepout and the final Mass with Pope Benedict XVI," Philip said.

"Three weeks ago, we approached our key airline partners who were willing to allow latecomers an extra window of time to come on board to avoid missing out altogether.

"This really is a case of "final call for Madrid!'"
