Changes for the Greek Melkite Church in Sydney

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Rev Archimandrite Robert Rabbat as the Bishop of the Greek Melkite Eparchy of St Michael the Archangel of Sydney.

The current Bishop of the Greek Melkite Eparchy, Most Rev Issam Darwish, has been appointed to the position of Greek-Melkite Archbishop of Zahleh and Furzol in Lebanon.

Bishop Rabbat is currently Rector of the Cathedral of the Annunciation, Newton, Massachusetts in the United States, but will soon travel to Australia.

The Melkite Greek Catholic Church is an Eastern Catholic Church in full communion with the Holy See as part of the worldwide Catholic Church.
