The sun was shining on 17 May 2015 when hundreds gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Parramatta for Celebrating the Early Years of Marriage.
This annual event is an acknowledgement of the anniversaries of couples who are celebrating their 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th anniversary.
The Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev Peter Williams, presided at the Mass and the beautiful music was provided by the choir of St Patrick’s Cathedral Parish.
The anniversary couples enjoyed a special blessing for their marriage as did all the married people attending. The Cathedral was filled with couples celebrating wedding anniversaries from many parishes across the Diocese, who were joined by their children, family members and friends.
Following the Mass, a group photo of the happy couples and their families with Fr Peter was taken on the steps of the Cathedral.
The group enjoyed lunch in the parish hall and the beautiful sunshine outside.
The children were entertained with activities and their own fun menu of hot dogs and fairy bread.
Many thanks to the staff of CatholicCare Social Services for organising and hosting the event in conjunction with the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta and St Patrick’s Cathedral Parish community.
