CCSS welcomes Parish Ambassadors

11/01/2012

CatholicCare Social Services - Diocese of Parramatta (CCSS) has welcomed its first Parish Ambassadors and is hoping representatives from more Parishes will join the agency's Ambassador Program in 2012.

The inaugural meeting of Parish Ambassadors was held on Thursday 3 November 2011.

The founding Parish Ambassadors were excited to be part of the meeting and were encouraged to hear of the good work that is done for the local community through CCSS.

CCSS aims to serve the community of the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta by overseeing the provision of high-quality social services operating according to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

At the meeting, CCSS Executive Director Otto Henfling spoke with the Ambassadors about the variety of work done through CCSS to help members of the community who are marginalised, disadvantaged or in need. He also spoke of the name change from 'Centacare' to 'CatholicCare' and explained the new logo to the Ambassadors.

All the Ambassadors who attended agreed that the meeting was valuable and determined to meet twice a year in order to network with each other, share ideas and stay up-to-date with the work of CCSS.

The Ambassador Program works toward building a strong relationship between CCSS and each Parish within the Diocese of Parramatta and other interest cluster groups, such as the Diocesan Parent Representative Council.

The role of an Ambassador is primarily twofold:

1. To promote the work of CCSS in their Parish and local community and,

2. To dialogue with CCSS about the local needs of each Parish to ascertain how CCSS can partner with the local Parish to help meet those needs.

If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador for your Parish, please contact John Manouk on Ph 02 9933 0222.
