Bishop Emeritus of Parramatta, Most Rev Kevin Manning DD, was the principal celebrant for the annual Mass of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta on Friday 10 September at St Patrick’s Church, Blacktown.
Following the Mass, which was concelebrated by the priests of the Diocese, Bishop Manning presented a number of service awards and certificates to Special Religious Education Teachers ('SREs') and Catechists from throughout the Parishes.
In all, 75 SREs and Catechists received awards for between 10 and 45 years years of service. The work of retired parish coordinators was also acknowledged.
Twenty-five 2010 CCD Level 3 participants also received awards, acknowledging the senior Catholic students who teach in local state primary schools. These senior students all received a certificate to enter in their curriculum vitae.
