Catholic school students and staff brave cold for homeless

09/06/2011

Staff at Holy Cross Primary in Glenwood Park and students and staff from St Canice’s Primary in Katoomba will be participating in the St Vincent de Paul Society’s annual winter sleep out as part of a campaign to raise awareness and funds to support men, women and children who are homeless, living in poverty or in need of assistance during the winter months.

St Canice’s Primary will hold their sleep out on Friday 10 June and Holy Cross Primary on Tuesday 28 June.

The sleep outs will commence with a special liturgy, followed by a simple dinner of soup, before Holy Cross staff and St Canice’s Years 5 and 6 students and staff brave the cold for the night with only their sleeping bags for warmth.
