CathNews' 'Olympic-sized' coverage of Mary MacKillop Canonisation
Pilgrim photographers, pilgrim bloggers, social media, as well as reflections from Australia’s leading Churchmen, are all part of the extended coverage next month of the Canonisation of Australia’s first Saint by Australia’s leading faith-based electronic publication, CathNews.

Church Resources CEO Luke Kenny today outlined the coverage which CathNews would give to the upcoming canonisation of Mary MacKillop in Rome on 17 October.
On the agenda are eight special editions of CathNews containing features exclusive to the news service’s 18,000 subscribers, including calls to pilgrim photographers and pilgrim ploggers to share their experiences through CathNews’ new social media applications, including a photo sharing site, and on Facebook.
Luke said CathNews will publish special editions from Sunday 10 October, every day through to Sunday, 17 October.
CathNews will continue to publish its usual morning newsletter every day during the Canonisation period, and the CathNews website will carry those stories.
"This unprecedented publishing schedule for CathNews reflects the importance to the Church, to Australian Catholics, and indeed to all Australians, of the life, the work, and the faith of this courageous nun who did so much in her lifetime to help the poor and the desperate, and whose Sisters of St Joseph continue to do so much good at home and around the world," Luke said."It is also a reflection of what the canonisation event in Rome and at home around Australia means to CathNews – this is our Olympic Games and during the Canonisation period the CathNews editors will do their best by the woman who did her best for so many."
