Blessing of BER spaces at St Anthony’s Primary Girraween

Catholic Diocese of Parramatta Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, Right Rev Monsignor Robert McGuckin VG EV, has blessed the new Building the Education Revolution (BER) spaces at St Anthony’s Primary, Girraween.

The Blessing Ceremony for the new $3 million library and renovated learning spaces was held at the school on Friday 25 November.

Representing the Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, Mgr McGuckin was assisted by St Anthony of Padua Toongabbie Parish Priest and Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation and Pastoral Planning, Very Rev Paul Marshall EV.

Fr Paul welcomed the school and parish community, as well as special guests who included representatives from the Sisters of Mercy (the founders of the St Anthony’s), Bill Walsh from the NSW Catholic Block Grant Authority, Peter Doddrell from PMDL Architecture and Design, Matthew Sharpe from Geldhill Constructions and principals from neighbouring Catholic schools.

Mgr McGuckin blessed the new and refurbished spaces and reminded students of the strong foundations on which the school is built.

"The architects and builders have ensured that there are strong foundations for these buildings," Mgr McGuckin said.

"Your Catholic education is ensuring you have strong foundations for life."
