The Australian Catholic Bishops say they are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, 25, who died yesterday two days after being struck by a ball during a Sheffield Shield match.
“We have prayed for the young Australian cricketer and for the extended Hughes family, cricket colleagues and friends,” the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference said in a statement.“
Our thoughts also go out to NSW paceman Sean Abbott. We are aware of his trauma and assure him of our prayerful support and that of the Catholic community.”
