BER opening & blessing at Harris Park

An opening and blessing ceremony was held at St Oliver’s Primary in Harris Park on Wednesday 7 September for the school's newly-constructed multi-purpose space and refurbished classrooms, funded by the Australian Government as part of the Building the Education Revolution Program.

The Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, blessed the $2 million project, which was officially opened by the Diocese's Executive Director of Schools, Greg Whitby and Federal Member for Parramatta, Julie Owens MP.

St Oliver Plunkett’s Parish Priest, Fr Arthur Bridge, welcomed the school and parish community to the ceremony. Special guests including Danuta Maka, director of system performance, Stephen Edwards and Wayne Burns from Stephen Edwards Construction, John Perry from Thomson Adsett Architects and principals from neighbouring Catholic schools.

In blessing the new and refurbished spaces, Bishop Anthony reminded students of the importance of a spiritual foundation in education.

"What you are learning at St Oliver’s is providing you with a spiritual foundation for life," Bishop Anthony said.

"Catholic schooling offers a unique opportunity for you to meet Christ and develop a relationship with Him."
