Ash Wednesday 2013 Mass times now available online

Parish and Migrant Catholic Community Mass times for Ash Wednesday 2013 (13 February) are now available on the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta site.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is a day of fast and abstinence.

This year, Australia’s Catholic Bishops are inviting the faithful to join with them to observe the Fridays of Lent as special days of penance in the wake of the sexual abuse crisis, including:

  • The prayerful reading of Holy Scripture;
  • A Holy Hour of prayer and petition before the Blessed Sacrament; and
  • Penance, in particular fasting and abstaining from meat.

Ash Wednesday Masses at St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta will be celebrated at 6.45am, 9.30am, 12.30pm and 7.30pm.

The Bishop of Parramatta, Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, will celebrate the 12.30pm Ash Wednesday Mass at the Cathedral.
