Antiochers Thanksgiving with Bishop Anthony Fisher
Social Justice Sunday was chosen by Antioch this year to celebrate the Youth Movement’s 29 years in Australia. Antioch youth from parish groups around the state came together for a Mass of Thanksgiving in St Patrick’s Cathedral, with Bishop Anthony Fisher as Principal Celebrant.
The theme of the Mass was ‘Justice and Peace’. In preparation, Antiochers had previously reflected on this year’s Social Justice Statement, ‘Violence in Australia – a message of peace’. The Statement challenged all Australians to work for greater peace in their families, their work place and in society. The occasion was the first time that the Antioch Youth Movement had celebrated its anniversary at St Patrick’s Cathedral. The singing was led by a strong music ministry directed by Nathan Rodrigues of St Anthony of Padua Parish, Toongabbie, and Ania Markowski of All Saints Parish, Liverpool.
