‘Pathways of St Paul’ pilgrimage: Smyrna, Thyateira & Pergamum
|St Polycarp Church.|
The ‘Pathways of St Paul’ pilgrimage being led by the Bishop of Parramatta Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP has visited three more of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse - Smyrna, Thyateira and Pergamum.
“The urgent message of St John to them and to us was to repent and return to the enthusiasm of our youth,” Bishop Anthony wrote on his Facebook page.
“Then we had Mass in the very beautiful church of his disciple St Polycarp. He was ordained by John and was one of the Apostolic Fathers - the generation of Christian leaders after the apostles.
“We have been seeing the evolution of the early Church before our very eyes. We really are one Church of Jesus Christ down through the ages!”
Bishop Anthony is leading the pilgrimage of 22 Catholic Education Office staff and Principals through Greece and Turkey from 28 September to 15 October.
