Speech Synopsis:

Could the state, by a simple act of parliament, change the definition of marriage for one man (King Henry) or for all?

Could it make what is by nature, faith and reason a life-long commitment, something more provisional - at least for the powerful?

This question echoes down the centuries. As new leaders aim to change the definition of marriage again, this time to allow same-sex marriage, we are faced with new struggles over the meaning and purpose of marriage.

Thomas More's example provides us with much to think about with regards to the demands of truth and of the protection and enrichment of marriage and the family.
