Commission for Ecumenism & Interfaith Dialogue: promoting Christian unity and respect for all faiths

Commission for Ecumenism and Interfaith Dialogue

The Commission for Ecumenism & Interfaith Dialogue is responsible for encouraging everyone in the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta to be proactive in promoting ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.

Ecumenism is the movement among Christian Churches – Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant – towards Christian unity, while Interreligious Dialogue is the movement among faiths and religions towards a better understanding of each other, promoting acceptance and respect, world peace and justice.

The Commission carries out its work by liaising between members of other churches and other religions, and encouraging parishes and Diocesan Councils to initiate grass roots activities and prayer services where appropriate.
