The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine: sowing the seeds of faith in our schools

Confraternity of Christian Doctrine

The Confraternity of Catholic Doctrine (CCD) for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta strives to ensure that Catholic students attending local state schools and their families have an opportunity to hear the Good News, to develop a relationship with God and to feel welcomed and valued members of the Church community.

The CCD does this by conducting training courses within the 49 parishes of the diocese to accredit Catechists – or Special Religious Education Teachers (‘SREs’) – to teach Special Religious Education in state schools.

There are currently 1,000 wonderful volunteer Catechists/SREs representing their parishes in around 250 state schools across the diocese, sowing the seeds of faith and helping children to truly understand Jesus’ message of ‘Love one another as I have loved you’.

If you would like to know more about the work of the CCD, or are interested in becoming a Catechist/SRE, please visit the CCD site.

For those members of our diocese who are already volunteering as Catechists/SREs, the CCD site also contains a wealth of teaching resources to help you in taking the Good News into local schools.
