Inter-Seminary Football Competition Australia
The inter-seminary soccer games are held every year in a different diocese to build a fraternal spirit amongst the Seminarians of Australia. These games are both enjoyable and competitive in nature with Bishops, Priests and Religious attending from all over the country to cheer on their home team.
The name of the Parramatta seminary football team is 'Spiritus Sactus' with team colours of blue and gold. Not only does the team take part in the inter-seminary comp but also in deanery sports days and other competitions within the Sydney and Parramatta area.
Most recently the inter-seminary football competition was held in Melbourne, Victoria in 2012 and then Brisbane, Queensland in 2014.
In 2013 the games were not held due to World Youth Day taking place in Rio de Janeiro. In a year when World Youth Day takes place the competition does not occur.
Spiritus Sanctus succeeded in reaching the grand final in August, 2014 and were runners up for the competition with the Neocatechumenal Seminarians of Redemptoris Mater Seminary winning the Grand Final. This title Parramatta hopes to obtain next year when the competition comes to Sydney, New South Wales!
