Campion Challenge - game on!

Catholic Outlook, May 2008

Winners are grinners at Cerdon College.

Students at Cerdon College, Merrylands, are looking forward to defending the title of Campion Knowledge Challenge Champions when they compete with other Parramatta diocesan schools in the 2nd Campion Knowledge Challenge.

The Campion Knowledge Challenge is a quiz that seeks to highlight the importance of the subjects taught in the Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts offered by the College.

These subjects include history, religion, philosophy, literature, science and general knowledge. All schools in the Diocese of Parramatta have been invited to participate.

The challenge has a written section as well as a fast-paced buzzer segment. A highlight of the quiz is a philosophical or ethical problem that each team must analyse.

Such a question might be: "If you knew the baby Adolf Hitler would grow up to fulfill his destiny, would you kill the infant at birth?"

Last year, Cerdon College claimed the title after a close-fought victory over Bede Polding College, South Windsor.

Campion will conduct heats on 8 and 15 May with the finals to be played on 22 May.

Schools wishing to seek a late entry are welcome to call Campion tel (02) 9896 9300.
