Don Bosco Youth and Recreation Centre

Purpose
A place for young people to have fun. To actively reach out to the young people 'at risk' and to families most in need through such programs as family support services, representing children and teenagers visiting their families and providing opportunities for them to make friends. To offer young people an environment where they feel welcome and cared for with abundant opportunities to develop their social skills and potential.

Eddy's Out West (Short Term Assessment Unit)

Purpose
Eddy's Out West provides short term (6 weeks) accommodation for homeless youth aged 15 - 18 years who are assessed by case workers to determine the most suitable long term placement option. Eddy's Out West also provides a case-managed, semi-independent living program for youth aged 16 - 21 years.

Marist Youth Care

Purpose
The mission of these services is to work in the interests of dis-advantaged young people in our society to promote personal growth and community development and provide the following services:

  • Family Restoration Programs
    Medium term residential programs designed for high school-aged boys who are having serious difficulties at home and/ or school. St Vincent's works closely with parents, with the aim of restoring the boys successfully to their families.

 

  • Independent Living Skills Programs
    For young people who can't be restores to their family. Aims to empower them with the skills and attitudes necessary for independent living.

 

  • Intensive Services
    Medium to long-term programs for severely disadvantaged young people with high support needs. They need intensive support to transition to the next phase of their life.

 

  • Individual Residential Service Programs
    For individual adolescent boys and girls whose support needs are such that they are supported in a program with very clear goals.

 

  • Short Term & Refuge Accommodation
    The Agency runs several refuges for homeless adolescents who are often in crisis.

 

  • Brokerage
    Provides food, clothing, accommodation and guidance to homeless adolescents and street kids unable to live in formal accommodation.

 

  • Transition to Independent Living Program
    Supporting a number of young people as they attempt to live independently in a variety of accommodation options we provide.

 

  • Post Release Support Program
    Assisting young offenders after release from custody to re-integrate back into their communities.

 

  • Family & Schools Conferencing Service
    Conferencing is a fair and just way to respond to student misbehaviour. The conference aims to restore damaged relationships in the hope that the student can continue to be a member of the school community. This service explores the philosophy of restorative justice in the school community and implications for behaviour management.

 

  • JobSquad
    JobSquad is an initiative to assist young people at risk who are currently unemployed and are at risk of long-term unemployment. The project targets especially those who do not complete secondary education and those who are living out of home by providing paid employment in soft landscaping and odd jobbing in a situation where the young people work under the supervision of an experienced supervisor as an introduction to the culture of the workplace. The experience of JobSquad is designed to assist them to access full-time work or to return to an appropriate form of formal education

 

  • The Hebersham Aboriginal Youth Services (HAYS)
    The Hebersham Aboriginal Youth Services (HAYS) is a partnership project with the Aboriginal community of Mt Druitt. Activities operating from the facility are:
    • Centre-based activities for young people
    • Community and project development meetings
    • BBQs and other social activities
    • Outreach services specific to the needs of young Aboriginal people

Obley Education Centre

Purpose
The centre provides academic and social skill development services for children in Years 8, 9 & 10 experiencing learning and behavioural difficulties in mainstream school education. One of the aims is to reintegrate students back into mainstream schooling where possible. Obley also offers the School Certificate for students in Year 10.

St Gabriel's School for Hearing Impaired Children

Purpose
In the tradition of Edmund Rice, St. Gabriel's exists to provide a caring and challenging Christian education for children with hearing impairment, to help them achieve their full potential through focusing on language development and intelligible speech acquired through listening.

St Gabriels comprises 'Hear the Children' Auditory-Verbal early intervention centre that caters for children with impaired hearing from diagnosis to school entry age.

St Gabriel's also provides a registered and accredited Kindergarten to Year 6 school and a Year 7 to Year 10 Learning Support Centre located at Gilroy College providing a full secondary curriculum to secondary aged students with hearing impairment.
